Anxiety, Depression and women's health

The risk of depression is approximately twice as high in women as in men, with greatest risk during the reproductive years. As women are frequently caregivers, the impact of depression has a carry-over effect on those receiving care. Research presented at the 159th Annual Meeting of the American Psychiatric Association highlighted points of vulnerability during the reproductive life cycle, examined risk factors, and reviewed strategies to enhance treatment during these specific times.
